Taken from EJECT: Archives + Demos 2004-2014 album.
Recorded in 2011. The original title of this song was 'This Cornflake Situation", I wrote it around 2010, but then completely forgot about it. Until I re-wrote a new song a year later. It was sometime after that that I found the original demo of "This Cornflake Situation" and realized I must have written the song twice, haha. The first version of Carnival Song featured at least two more verses, cutting them off was hard as I loved the lyrics, but it works better now.
The recording of this song was epic. String sessions, Brass. Kids Choir. It took a year to get right. Mainly produced by Dom Morley. It was his baby. He carved out the millions of takes to create this wonderful thing.

LYRICS /
Your blindfold kiss tricks me
A conversation nearly hits me head on
How did I miss that one
Bring back the stationary shops, with paper clips and glue I can stand up
The careless carers do not care
They cover up all of those beautiful things we made with love
And it's just hit me that I'm the only one, who's seen your green eyes changing
So let's celebrate
Cos' all of the love we make
It helps us to elevate ourselves into the light, into the light, into the light
This carnival is passing me
With clowns and drums, the noise it penetrates my skin
The sound of cars becomes a secondary thing
Just like a drug, it kicks me over, and then I join in
So let's celebrate
Cos' all of the love we make
It helps us to elevate ourselves into the light, into the light, into the light
So gather up your home-made
I'm running out of everything I ever saved
We'll do without
They say that money drags you down in different ways
So hold me closer than before, we'll be okay
Come on and celebrate
Cos' all of the love we make
It helps us to elevate ourselves into the light, into the light, into the light
(Join in)
Come on and celebrate
Cos' all of the love we make
It helps us to elevate ourselves into the light, into the light, into the light
